Peter Jackson - They Shall Not Grow Old

14 - 18 NOW

Original footage brought to life in HD

Social media and PR manager

14 - 18 NOW

Peter Jackson’s new feature ‘They Shall Not Grow Old’ was co-commissioned by 14-18 NOW, the UK’s arts programme for the First World War centenary, and Imperial War Museums, in association with the BBC. Created exclusively with original footage of the Western Front and audio from BBC archives, the film shows the first world war in full colour and high definition for the very first time.

It tells soldier’s stories using the voices of the veterans combined with original archival footage to bring to life the reality of war on the front line for a whole new generation. Footage has been colourised, converted to 3D and transformed with modern production techniques to present never before seen detail.

As part of the awareness and PR campaign, I was responsible for coordinating celebrity ambassadors and social media influencer content. This included:

  •  A digital partnership with Dan Snow’s HistoryHIT channel
  • A YouTube influencer campaign with the Mandeville Sisters and Ruby Granger
  • A Twitter awareness campaign with Historian/Influencer Greg Jenner

My work on this highly engaging and popular project achieved:

  • 1.3 million impressions on Twitter from Ambassadors and premiere activity
  • 47,611 listeners to Dan Snow’s podcast interview of Peter Jackson
  • 30,000 views on YouTube influencer content
  • Sold-out cinema screenings across the UK
  • 2.1m viewers for the National broadcast on BBC 2 (11 November 2018)
